How to use this Discount calculator

Sale signs love big percentages, but the rupee you actually save and the final price you pay are what matter. Stacked offers and 'extra 10% off' deals make the real saving harder to judge than it looks.

This calculator turns a list price and discount percentage into the exact amount saved and the final price, so you can see through marketing and decide if a deal is genuinely worth it.

How the discount is computed

The saving is list price × discount ÷ 100, and the final price is the list price minus that saving, or equivalently list price × (1 − discount ÷ 100).

Seeing the rupee value, not just the percentage, makes it easier to compare offers across different price points.

Stacked discounts are not additive

A 20% discount followed by an extra 10% is not 30% off — the second discount applies to the already-reduced price, giving about 28% overall.

Apply discounts one after another in the calculator to find the true combined saving.

Spotting real value

A large percentage off an inflated list price can be worth less than a smaller discount off a fair one, so judge the final price against what the item is genuinely worth.

For purchases attracting GST, remember the tax applies to the discounted price, which the GST calculator can help you check.
